Guyer- Kimball House (ca 1865)
730 19th Street
Samuel S. Guyer, the original
owner, served as Sheriff in 1866.
Mr. Guyer's daughter, Annette,
married James R. Kimball and
ownership of the home passed to
them in 1901. In the 1940s, later
owners created as many as nine
apartments here.
More recently it has returned to single family use and is undergoing
restoration. The Italianate style is intact. It has a low-pitched hip roof,
widely overhanging eaves with paired brackets and small knee-high
decorative attic windows. Windows on the living level are very tall and
narrow with each sash divided into two panes. Each window has a
pediment decorating its top. The double front doors, with a transom
above, are also typical of Italianate design.
Although the fence is new, it is typical of fences used in the late 19th
Century.
