Neighborhood Tours
RIPS members research and lead tours to various parts of Rock Island
to point out architectural styles as well as history. All proceeds from the tour benefit
the work of the Rock Island Preservation Society, a not-for-profit organization dedicated
to the preservation of our built historic heritage. Since 1981, the society has led the
community in the education of our citizens about historic preservation. The Rock Island
Preservation Ordinance, which has earned statewide respect, resulted from efforts initiated
by the Society.
Some of our recent tours include the following:
Long View Park - 2008 (Booklet)
Booklet of park's history and development, created by Friends of Long View for their celebration of
the park's anniversary. (Available on this site, since Friends currently does not have a web site.)
Watch Hill - 2007 Audio Tour
Watch Hill - 2007 (Brochure)
Other tours:

These Broadway tour resources are available through the Rock Island Preservation Commission and the Broadway Historic District Association.
