Newsletter November 2019

The RIPS newsletter has plenty to keep you busy this season. In addition to the monthly membership meetings (including the Holiday Social meeting in December), there are education opps at Hauberg History Talks and a Historic Bridge presentation at Butterworth Center. Grab a friend and a camera and go on a scavenger hunt to find WWI memorial monuments and help out Landmarks Illinois. Or take a stroll down memory lane, cozied up under a blanket, and rewatch the 1990s PBS series “About your House with Bob Yapp.”

Our advocacy for historic structures continues. Read about the First National Bank landmark application RIPS submitted to the City of Rock Island. There is an important hearing this week for the Rock Island County Courthouse. And last but certainly by no means least, RIPS extends our congratulations to Friends of Hauberg Estate for their recognition by Landmarks Illinois and the awarding of the Driehous Foundation Preservation Award.

Please share this newsletter with anyone you feel may be interested in our news. Thanks!
