Newsletter May 2022

May is packed with reasons to celebrate! May is National Historic Preservation Month and we are celebrating locally with the Oak Hills Neighborhood Walking Tour on Mother’s Day. This event is open to the public and free, so invite your friends to take a walk with you. We are also all invited to celebrate Susanne Denkmann Hauberg’s 150th birthday at her historic home in Rock Island on May 1st.

This month’s newsletter has just a little information about the Oak Hills Tour because RIPS has assembled a 28 page guide to the neighborhood and its history and architecture. Tour participants will each receive a copy of the guide. Tour volunteers will lead groups around the neighborhood or you can set your own pace utilizing the Oak Hill Neighborhood Guide.

“People Saving Places” is the theme of the National Historic Preservation Month. Your membership in your local, state, and national preservation organizations has an important impact on our historic built environment. Thank you for your support!

As always, please share the newsletter with anyone you think may be interested in the articles.
